Lure Coursing
Lure coursing.......... wow, if you have a breed that courses, and you're not into it, you should be. It is a fun, fun activity to do with your dog, and hopefully your dog will love it as much as both of mine do.
I have only coursed my girls for a short time, so I have a LOT to learn. Some people have been coursing for many many years.
Fable loves it, and Summer LOVES it..

Fable got her JC, or Junior Courser title, then she decided the pulleys were more fun to watch than the lure. So we did a little work with her, she discovered the lure was MUCH more fun! Now she has her SC, or Senior Courser title, also.
Right now, she is working toward her FC, or Field Champion title. She has 6 out of 15 points needed.

Summer eagerly got her JC, tore up the field to get her SC, and barely paused in her pursuit of FC. She earned her Field Champion title Nov. 2007 in Chickasha, OK. Summer would rather run
than anything else!

Recently the Northwest Arkansas Kennel Club,  http://nwakennelclub.com/ our local all breed kennel club,  has decided to add lure coursing as one of the events we will offer here in the area. We are currently in the application process, we've had a great training class from AKC, put on by Bob Mason, and Earl McNamee from Little Rock, AR has been great to us also, teaching us, giving us advice, and operating the lure for us. We're slowly building a core group of people dedicated to making coursing happen here, so watch for us in the future, come to our events, and say HI!.

I have to give a HUGE THANK YOU!! to Elizabeth Lane, of Fort Worth, TX  http://lanerr.com/ for mentoring me in lure coursing. I showed up at the coursing field in Wichita, knowing only Fable was supposed to have the instincts to run, having no clue myself, and ran into Elizabeth and asked for HELP!!!
She showed me what to do, how to sign Fable up to run,
and she has turned into such a great friend and mentor. The high points of my past year were when I got to go coursing with Elizabeth Lane, Linda Peterson, another great Ridgeback friend, Alice Mirestes, with her Ibizans, and Lynette Staton, my roommate and one of my best friends.
Elizabeth has been so kind to to take my girls running when I couldnt go, they are very fortunate
to have Elizabeth in their life!
